Terms of Service

Effective date: July 4, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and TypeCal (“TypeCal,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), which is operated from India. They govern your use of the TypeCal mobile app, our backend services, and all related features (together, the “App”).

By creating an account, signing in, or using TypeCal, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use TypeCal.

Eligibility & Age

You must be at least 13 years old to use TypeCal. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use TypeCal only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

What TypeCal Provides

TypeCal offers food logging, nutrition and calorie estimates, hydration tracking, recipes, a pantry, grocery lists, progress tracking, reminders, and related wellness features. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed at any time.

TypeCal Is Not Medical Advice

TypeCal is for informational and general-wellness purposes only. It is not a medical device, healthcare provider, dietitian, doctor, emergency service, or a substitute for professional advice.

Do not use TypeCal to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making diet, weight, allergy, medication, pregnancy, eating-disorder, or other health decisions.

Nutrition, Allergy & AI Estimates

Food, calorie, macro, ingredient, recipe, barcode, label, portion, and AI-generated outputs are estimates and may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or unsuitable for your circumstances. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting them before relying on them.

Allergy and ingredient information is not guaranteed. If you have allergies, intolerances, or medical nutrition requirements, verify foods, ingredients, labels, and restaurant information independently before eating.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining access to your sign-in method and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. We may suspend or restrict accounts to protect TypeCal, its users, or our systems.

Subscriptions, Free Trial & Billing

TypeCal offers optional paid subscriptions, which may include a free trial.

  • Payment. Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store and managed through our subscription-management provider. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Free trial. If your subscription includes a free trial, it automatically converts to a paid subscription and your Apple ID is charged when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the period.
  • Managing & cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your Apple ID / App Store settings. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
  • Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple’s payment, cancellation, and refund policies. We generally cannot issue refunds directly.
  • Price changes. We may change subscription prices; changes apply to future billing periods and, where required, only after notice and your consent.

Your Content & License

You may create food logs, photos, recipes, recipe links, voice input, text, pantry and grocery items, feedback, and other content (“User Content”). You keep ownership of your User Content.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, reproduce, display, transmit, and modify your User Content only as needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve TypeCal — including sending it to the service providers described in our Privacy Policy to generate nutrition estimates.

You represent that you have the rights to submit your User Content and that it does not violate law or infringe anyone’s rights.

Acceptable Use

You may not:

  • use TypeCal for unlawful, harmful, abusive, deceptive, or infringing purposes;
  • attempt to access another user’s account or data;
  • interfere with, reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or disrupt TypeCal or its backend;
  • upload malicious code or content; or
  • use TypeCal to provide medical, emergency, or professional healthcare services.

Apple Health, Notifications & Siri

  • Apple Health features are optional and controlled by your device permissions. If enabled, TypeCal may read selected Health data and write nutrition data back, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Notifications, if enabled, may include reminders, progress nudges, and quick-log prompts. You can turn them off in iOS Settings.
  • Siri & Shortcuts, if you use them, let you log or query data by voice. You can manage these in iOS Settings.

Third-Party Services

TypeCal relies on third-party services, including Apple and Google, our hosting, AI, analytics, crash-reporting, and subscription-management providers, and the app stores. These services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content, outages, or decisions.

Availability & Changes

TypeCal may change, pause, or stop at any time. Features may be experimental, unavailable, inaccurate, or rate-limited. We may update these Terms when the App or legal requirements change, as described in “Changes to These Terms.”

Disclaimers

TypeCal is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and reliability.

We do not guarantee that TypeCal’s nutrition, calorie, macro, ingredient, recipe, allergy, barcode, label, AI, progress, or health-related outputs will be accurate, complete, safe, or appropriate for you.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, personal injury, or health or dietary outcomes arising from your use of — or reliance on — TypeCal.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to TypeCal or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of TypeCal, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or others’ rights.

Termination

You may stop using TypeCal and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk, or misused TypeCal, or if we discontinue the App.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to the arbitration section below, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

Dispute Resolution — Arbitration & Class-Action Waiver

Please read this section carefully — it affects how disputes are resolved.

Except where prohibited by law, you and we agree to first try to resolve any dispute informally by contacting support@typegenstudio.com. If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, any dispute relating to TypeCal or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (India), rather than in court. The seat and venue of arbitration will be in India, the arbitration will be conducted in English by a sole arbitrator, and the arbitrator’s decision will be final and binding.

You and we waive any right to participate in a class, collective, or representative action. Disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable, the remainder of this section will not apply to that dispute.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent interim or injunctive relief from a court of competent jurisdiction.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice — for example, by updating the effective date above or posting an in-app notice. Continued use of TypeCal after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
