Terms of Use

TypeCal is provided by TypeGen Studio, an independent software business based in India.

These Terms of Use govern the TypeCal mobile app and its iPhone and iPad interfaces, backend services, website and waitlist, browser authentication and OAuth pages, notifications, widgets and Live Activities, Apple Health features, subscriptions, support and feedback channels, and the optional TypeCal MCP service (together, the Service). References to “TypeCal,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean TypeGen Studio.

By affirmatively accepting these Terms when TypeCal asks you to do so, you agree to them. The Privacy Policy separately explains how TypeCal handles personal information. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility and Age

You must be at least 13 years old to use TypeCal. If you are at least 13 but under the age of majority where you live, by using the Service you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian. TypeCal does not claim that it stores or independently verifies that permission.

You are responsible for providing accurate account information, maintaining access to your sign-in method, protecting your devices and connected clients, and promptly telling TypeCal if you believe your account or a connection has been compromised.

What TypeCal Provides

TypeCal provides food logging, nutrition and calorie estimates, hydration, weight and target tracking, recipes, saved meals, pantry and grocery tools, progress and reward features, notifications, widgets and Live Activities, optional Apple Health features, paid subscriptions and trials, and optional connected-client access through OAuth and MCP.

Features can change, be limited, become unavailable, or be discontinued. Some features depend on your device, permissions, location, subscription, internet access, provider availability, or separately enabled TypeCal configuration.

General Wellness, Not Medical Advice

TypeCal is for informational and general-wellness purposes. It is not medical advice, a medical device, a healthcare provider, a dietitian, a doctor, an emergency service, or a substitute for professional care.

Do not use TypeCal to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent a disease or condition. Consult a qualified professional before making decisions involving diet, weight, allergies, medication, pregnancy, an eating disorder, or another health concern. Seek local emergency help when appropriate.

Nutrition, Allergy, and Automated Estimates

Food, calorie, nutrient, ingredient, recipe, barcode, label, portion, voice, image, and AI-assisted results are estimates. They can be inaccurate, incomplete, duplicated, delayed, or unsuitable for your circumstances. Review and correct results before relying on them.

Allergy and ingredient information is not guaranteed. If you have an allergy, intolerance, or medical nutrition requirement, independently verify foods, ingredients, labels, preparation methods, and restaurant information before eating.

Subscriptions, Trial, and Billing

TypeCal offers a paid auto-renewing subscription and may offer a free trial. The App Store product page and Apple's purchase sheet show the current price, billing period, trial period, and included features before purchase.

• Payment. Apple charges your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Apple and TypeCal's subscription provider manage purchase and entitlement information.
• Free trial. A free trial automatically converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Apple charges your Apple Account when the trial converts.
• Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current subscription period ends. Apple may charge the renewal within 24 hours before that period ends.
• Cancellation. Manage or cancel through your Apple Account or App Store subscription settings. Deleting the app or your TypeCal account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
• Refunds. Apple handles billing, cancellation, taxes, and refund requests under its rules and applicable law. TypeCal generally cannot issue an App Store refund directly.
• Changes. Price or plan changes apply to future periods only as Apple and applicable law permit and after any required notice or consent.

Your Content and Imported Content

User Content includes content you create, submit, import, or direct an authorized client to create in TypeCal, such as food logs, photos, labels, recipes, recipe links, pantry and grocery items, voice or text input, feedback, social-media video or audio, webpage content, thumbnails, extracted frames, optical-character-recognition results, transcripts, and derived recipe or nutrition information.

You retain your rights in User Content. You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit or import it and to let TypeCal process it as described here. This responsibility includes third-party recipes, webpages, images, audio, video, transcripts, and other imported material. Your use must not violate law, a source platform's terms, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, or publicity rights. TypeCal does not give you ownership of or additional rights in third-party content.

You grant TypeCal a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transform, transmit, and display User Content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, support, and improve the Service and to use the processors described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when the content is deleted, subject to the deletion, backup, security, legal, and provider-retention limits described in the Privacy Policy.

MCP and Authorized Clients

You may connect a compatible AI client or application through OAuth. The initial connection provides only the read access displayed during authorization. Write permissions are separate from that connection's read access and are off by default. Three separate write grants cover grocery changes, recipe changes, and food-and-hydration logging.

The actions below are available only when MCP writes are enabled and separately authorized for that connection. The six supported MCP write actions are:

• Add Grocery Items
• Update Grocery Item
• Add Recipe Ingredients to Grocery List
• Create Recipe
• Log a Recipe as Eaten
• Log Water

These grants apply as follows:

• Grocery grant: Add Grocery Items; Update Grocery Item; Add Recipe Ingredients to Grocery List.
• Recipe grant: Create Recipe.
• Log grant: Log a Recipe as Eaten; Log Water.

Log a Recipe as Eaten additionally requires the recipe grant when supplied nutrition updates stored recipe nutrition. These are the only current MCP write actions. No current MCP tool deletes TypeCal data. No current MCP tool writes to Apple Health.

An authorized client acts as your delegate. Review its provider, requested permissions, instructions, and resulting changes. AI clients can misunderstand a request, choose the wrong item or quantity, or create errors or duplicates. You can revoke an individual write grant or disconnect a client. Revocation prevents new TypeCal access after it completes, but it cannot undo completed actions or make a third-party client or provider delete information it already received. The client and its provider have their own terms, privacy practices, security, availability, and retention controls.

Apple Health, Notifications, Siri, Widgets, and Live Activities

Apple Health features are optional and controlled by your permissions. The TypeCal app may read selected Apple Health information and may write nutrition entries when you direct it to do so. You can change access through Apple Health or iOS Settings. MCP tools do not write to Apple Health.

Notifications, Siri and Shortcuts, widgets, and Live Activities are optional and depend on Apple and device controls. Voice commands can be misunderstood, and notifications can arrive late or not at all. Widgets and Live Activities may show calories, nutrients, hydration, or progress on the Home Screen or Lock Screen, where someone with access to your device may see them. You can remove widgets through iOS controls and turn off Lock Screen progress in TypeCal settings.

Acceptable Use

You may not:

• use the Service unlawfully, deceptively, abusively, harmfully, or to infringe another person's rights;
• submit or import content you do not have the right to use;
• access or attempt to access another person's account, data, or connection;
• bypass permissions, quotas, authentication, rate limits, payment controls, or security measures;
• scrape, probe, reverse engineer, overload, disrupt, or introduce malicious code into the Service except to the extent applicable law expressly permits;
• misuse an authorized client to conceal prohibited automation or activity; or
• present TypeCal output as medical, emergency, or professional healthcare advice.

TypeCal may investigate suspected misuse and take proportionate steps to protect users, the Service, third parties, and legal rights.

Third-Party Services

TypeCal depends on services provided by Apple, Google, hosting, storage, authentication, AI, transcription, analytics, email, subscription, nutrition-data, website, remote-media, and connected-client providers. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using TypeCal.

TypeCal does not control a provider's availability, content, decisions, security, or retention. A provider outage, device limitation, source-site change, permission change, or location restriction can delay, limit, or prevent a feature or imported item from working.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, or reliability. TypeCal does not guarantee that nutrition, calorie, nutrient, ingredient, recipe, allergy, barcode, label, AI, progress, or health-related information is accurate, complete, safe, or suitable for you.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies consumer rights that applicable law does not allow to be excluded, restricted, or modified. Any disclaimer applies only to the extent the law allows.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TypeCal is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, personal injury, or health or dietary outcomes arising from the Service or reliance on its results.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TypeCal's total liability for claims relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for TypeCal in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or US $100.

These limitations do not apply to a right, remedy, guarantee, warranty, or liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including any non-waivable consumer right. Some jurisdictions provide rights that make part or all of these limitations inapplicable.

Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion

You may stop using TypeCal, revoke connected clients, and request account deletion at any time. Account deletion follows the process and limitations described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription or erase information already received by a connected client.

TypeCal may suspend, restrict, or terminate access for a material violation of these Terms, a security or safety risk, a legal requirement, nonpayment where applicable, or discontinuation of the Service. Where practical and lawful, TypeCal will use proportionate measures and provide notice. Provisions concerning content rights already exercised, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability, disputes, and terms that by their nature should survive remain effective to the extent permitted by law.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, subject to non-waivable consumer rights that apply where you live.

Before filing a claim, you and TypeCal may try to resolve the issue informally by emailing support@typegenstudio.com. Any dispute not resolved informally is subject to the jurisdiction of competent courts in India, except where applicable non-waivable consumer law permits or requires you to bring a claim in another forum. Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from seeking urgent interim relief from a court with lawful authority.

Changes to These Terms

TypeCal may update these Terms when the Service, law, or TypeCal's practices change. Each update will have a new version and effective date.

Material changes will be presented as updated Terms, and TypeCal will provide notice and require you to explicitly accept them in the app before continuing to use the changed Service. TypeCal will also send email when legally required or when a change materially affects your rights. If you do not accept a material update, you may stop using the Service and request account deletion.

Apple App Store Terms

These Terms supplement, and do not replace, Apple's Standard EULA. You can read Apple's Standard EULA. The Standard EULA governs use of the app and content, materials, and services accessible from or purchased within it, including the non-transferable scope permitted on Apple-branded products under Apple's Usage Rules and covered upgrades. If these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA on a matter within that governed scope, the Standard EULA controls to the extent of the conflict within that governed scope, subject always to non-waivable rights under applicable law.

Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for TypeCal or its content. As between Apple and TypeCal, TypeCal is responsible for the Service and for any maintenance or support it offers or applicable law requires; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Under the Apple-required warranty arrangement, if the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price paid for the app, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app, and TypeCal remains responsible for other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to an applicable warranty.

As between Apple and TypeCal, TypeCal, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product liability, failure to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy law. TypeCal, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging a third-party intellectual-property infringement claim concerning the app or your possession and use of it.

You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Apple-related terms. When you accept these Terms, Apple may enforce those Apple-related terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
